Terms and Conditions for Meeting The One
These Terms and Conditions are the property of Meeting the One dating website, referred to from here on as Meeting The One, we, us, Meetingtheone.co.uk and MTO.
We may change or add to the terms and conditions whether because we are adding services or for security or legal reasons. We will give you 14 days’ notice of any changes either via the MTO website or via email. Any changes to these terms will not affect your rights to cancel your subscription.
By using, and/or subscribing to, the Meeting The One website you are legally deemed to have accepted the following terms and conditions.
Definitions
For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions the Meeting The One website is severally referred to as Meeting The One, we us, Meetingtheone.co.uk and MTO. Users of the website are referred to as users, members, you and subscribers.
Access to the site
MTO is a dating website for adults to communicate online and to meet other members at our events, and is therefore not available to individuals under 18 years old. If you use the site, then you are confirming that you are no younger than 18 years old. If you use the site you are confirming that you are single, i.e. not married or in a legally binding civil partnership. You are also confirming that you have no conviction not yet served, or have any court order against you, which relates to any violence, assault, sexual misconduct or sexual harassment.
User/subscriber responsibilities and obligations
As a user or subscriber of the website you are responsible for any content or information that you contribute to the site, for the information you make available through the site to any other members. You are also responsible for your interactions with any other users of the site, whether those interactions are online, or during any of the events organised by MTO, or during any private meetings you may have with other site members.
You agree to having only one profile, and that your account is for your own personal use, and must not be shared with others. You should keep your account details, username and password strictly confidential. MTO cannot be responsible for anyone other than yourself accessing your account, if it results from you sharing this information.
We want everyone to use the site as safely as possible. Therefore you agree not to post any personal information on your profile, including your address, email address, telephone number or instant messaging details. MTO reserves the right to remove such details.
You must not send messages or information that
1 Are intended to intimidate or harass any other user of the site.
2 That is knowingly untrue, abusive or obscene in any way
3 That supports or encourages bigotry or racism towards anyone
4 That encourages illegal behaviour of any kind
5 Contains images of another person without their consent being given for that specific purpose, or contains images of anyone under 18 years old for whom you are not legally responsible
6 Contains advertising or commercial material, or knowingly carries any computer virus
Neither must you behave at any event we have organised for the purposes of meeting other singles, in any way that is threatening (sexually or otherwise), harmful, abusive or racist.
If any claim is made against us by a third party as a result of any breach of our terms and conditions by you, then you agree to compensate us for any claim, damages, and the legal fees incurred.
Meeting The One: Our responsibilities and obligations to our users
In regards to the privacy of the sites users, we confirm that we are fully compliant with the provisions and regulations of the Data Protection Act.
We agree to provide a live website with continuous uptime. If there is a technical problem with the site we will resolve it as quickly and efficiently as possible. If a site problem affects paid subscribers for any considerable length of time, then compensation of subscription payments will be offered.
We have no obligation to monitor messages sent via the site, but reserve the right to occasionally do so, as the safety of our users is important to us. Should any report of abuse be made then the relevant messages will be scrutinised, and the sender of the reported messages will be warned or indeed banned from the site if the allegation is upheld.
We will not use your profile or profile photo for any promotional purposes unless you agree. At times we send emails to other members featuring selected profiles of those members we think might have similar interests/outlook, which are intended to assist in your search for a partner. When you create your profile you will be offered the option of being excluded from these emails. We will never make your personal contact details available to another company without your express permission. The personal information we gather about you will be solely for the purposes of matching your interests and lifestyle with those of other members, and for sending you emails about events which may be of interest to you.
Our events are aimed at increasing the possibility of our members meeting a suitable partner, in a relaxed, fun and safe environment. However, we are not a match making service, and therefore cannot be held responsible for the behaviour or veracity of other members that you meet on or off the site.

Safety and Precautions
MTO is not responsible for making any criminal checks on our users, and therefore cannot speak for their veracity. While we hope that all our users are honest and responsible, there are risks associated with both on and offline dating. We would urge you to read our safety page before you begin messaging and meeting other members either privately, or at our hosted events. You are solely responsible for taking the necessary precautions to keep yourself as safe as possible, and we aim to give you as much information and advice about those issues as we can.
Subscriptions and cancellations
There are two levels of access to the Meeting The One site. You can register on the site for free, which will give you the option of using certain parts of the site. A subscription gives you full access to all the site has to offer. Full details of what you get when registering for free and details of the full range of functions that are available when you subscribe are displayed on the Register Now link on the site Homepage.
You can find all the information you need regarding subscription fees and how to subscribe on the Subscribe page. Your payment card details will be saved securely encrypted within the Barclaycard payment gateway.
When you subscribe we will send you an email confirming your subscription. You may cancel your subscription within seven working days commencing on the day after we confirm your subscription, by using the Contact us page. We will then refund any subscription payment you have made, providing you have not used the site within the cancellation period. We will email you seven days before your subscription runs out, and you will be offered the option to renew your existing subscription, to change to another package, or to cancel your subscription. Please note that if you go past your renewal date without renewing your payment your subscription will lapse, and you will lose your subscriber benefits.
If we have to close your account for any reason, and you have a paid subscription we will make a pro-rata refund of any subscription fee that is still current. You may close your membership to MTO at any time by going to My Account on your My Profile page. We are not required to make any refunds in this instance.
Reporting Abuse
If you encounter any behaviour which you consider to be harmful, threatening, unlawful or in breach of the terms and conditions of the site please contact us immediately by using the Contact Us form. We will investigate and take appropriate action.
If you need to report an attack or believe your safety is at risk please contact the police immediately and then advise us using the Contact Us form. If such an occurrence happens at one of our hosted events, please make the host aware immediately and we will assist you in contacting the police. If anything should happen after an event please contact the police first and MTO second. Although the safety of our users is of utmost concern we cannot take responsibility for the behaviour of site members. Neither can MTO become involved in resolving any disputes that might arise between members.
Limitation of liability
We do not guarantee that the Meeting The One website will be fully operational without interruption at all times, but we will do our utmost to ensure that it is.
Nothing within these terms and conditions is intended to limit our liability for any fraudulent misrepresentation by ourselves, or for any death or injury which results from our negligence or that of our employees.
In general, these terms and conditions are only intended to give rights to us and to the website user.
These terms and conditions are governed by English law. All parties involved, i.e. MTO and you the user, agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Court system.
